Install of the Month: Tri City Synthetic Turf

Californians often resort to planting drought tolerant foliage for their landscapes. Even though the water restrictions have ended, the installation and planting of desert friendly plants and artificial grass has not subsided.

Tri City Synthetic Turf, an artificial grass installation company based out of San Marcos, recently converted 3,150 square feet of Synthetic Grass Warehouse’s Everlast’s Sequoia and 320 square feet of TigerTurf’s True Putt for a local homeowner.

“This job was about half turf installation, half landscaping. We included drought tolerant plants and giant stepping stones to break it up and make it more interesting,” Fedor Maus, owner of Tri City Synthetic Turf told us. “She was looking to create a luxury backyard that would still be water wise.”

For the homeowners, creating a landscape that the entire family could enjoy together was extremely important. “They decided on Sequoia because the color and feel of the product is so natural and beautiful,” Maus said. “We find that many homeowners that switch to synthetic turf are doing it for the low maintenance and realism, rather than just saving water.”

Tri City Synthetic Turf was founded in 2007 and pride themselves on being a smaller, more involved company than their competition. “It’s always my goal to leave a customer satisfied with a smile on their face,” Maus told us. “We are really hands on and we stand behind our work 100%. We’re very proud of the products we use and our work ethic.”

Tri City Synthetic Turf is the September 2017 “Install of the Month” winner. Congratulations!

Install of the Month: Water Wise Grass

After more than five years of drought, California has finally ended their state of emergency. Residents all over the state are celebrating, however water useage is still an ongoing issue for Southern California and homeowners continue to look for solutions. While most would expect demand for artificial grass to decrease with the passing of the drought, it has been exactly the opposite.

Water Wise Grass, an artificial grass installation company based out of San Diego, recently converted 1,200 square feet of Synthetic Grass Warehouse’s TigerTurf Diamond Pro Spring for a local homeowner. Diamond Pro Spring is designed for moderate to heavy traffic, and features TigerCool technology, allowing for a decreased surface temperature of 10 degrees Fahrenheit on sunny days.

“This client reviewed six other turf companies before choosing us,” said Mike Palmer, owner of Water Wise Grass. “They were the most detail oriented clients we’ve worked with, and had a lot of specifics that they wanted to include in their installation. I knew we could deliver on their expectations.” Palmer worked alongside the client to pick the perfect turf product for their needs.

The client was happy with the involvement of Palmer on their project, and mentioned it in their Yelp review of Water Wise Grass. “[Palmer] pointed out several differing products, his pet application processes, and allowed us the details to study up on them. I asked questions and tried to really understand what we were getting in terms of turf product array and pet installation,” they said.

Water Wise Grass was founded in 2014 and is growing steadily. They pride themselves on being a very consultative company, educating consumers about the benefits of turf products. “The selling point for our customers is usually just the knowledge and experience we bring to the table,” Palmer told us. “Homeowners don’t always know what to look for. They might just like the color or how soft it is, but we make certain we provide them with the best product for their needs that will keep them enjoying their lawn for years to come. I treat every client like they’re family.”

Water Wise Grass is our August 2017 “Install of the Month” winner! Congratulations.

Install of the Month: Paradise Greens – Arizona

As the summer heatwave hits the United States, many desert landscape communities are switching to artificial turf. Over the past couple years, the primary driving factors for homeowners was the conservation of water and the aesthetic of a realistic, evergreen lawn. Now, the switch to artificial grass is being propelled by its propensity for being low maintenance, and pet-friendly.

Our July 2017 “Install of the Month” winner, Paradise Greens recently installed 13,000 square feet of Synthetic Grass Warehouse’s Everglade Spring Pro for a Phoenix resident, and also 1,800 square feet of True Putt in their backyard. Everglade Spring Pro allows for moderate to heavy traffic, and is pet-friendly with its perforated backing, allowing for urine and liquids to drain. For putting, True Putt features slit film polypropylene grass blades for fast green speeds.

“The clients were very focused on getting a turf product that was going to work for their 4 dogs,” Charlie Ferer, owner of Paradise Greens, said. “Since the dogs varied in size, we wanted to accommodate and find a product that was going to withstand that kind of traffic.” While their dogs ran around the yard, the father and son still wanted a place to practice their short game, so Paradise Greens sent out a designer to make it happen. “They wanted their green to have straight putt ability as well as a break, so we worked with them to create the perfect practice space,” Ferer explained.

Paradise Greens was founded in 2005, and pride themselves in their 100% USA manufactured turf and quality customer service. Their installation crew has been together for over eleven years and has received many awards, including “Best Putting Green Designer”, as well as the “Super Service Award”. They are the certified installer for all Costco stores throughout Maricopa, as well as 22 Home Depot locations. The Paradise Greens installation portfolio also includes work with some big resorts throughout Arizona, including the Marriott Camelback Resort and Spa, the Hyatt Gainey Ranch, and The Phoenician.

Install of the Month: Arizona Luxury Lawns

The artificial turf industry has been hard at work refining artificial grass products to replicate the look and feel of natural grass. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed by homeowners throughout Paradise Valley, Arizona. In fact, many families continue to swap out their natural lawns for artificial grass to enhance the look of their yards.

Our June 2017 “Install of the Month” winner, Arizona Luxury Lawns & Greens, recently installed 1,100 square feet of Diamond Pro Spring and 500 square feet of True Putt in this Arizona backyard. Diamond Pro Spring is best used for moderate to heavy traffic areas, and uses field and lime green grass blades paired with a brown thatch layer for added realism. True Putt is a high quality putting green product that features high green speeds which allows your golf ball to react at PGA level.

The clients, a couple who entertain guests on a regular basis, wanted a yard to look inviting and alive even in the midst of the desert Arizona climate. “It is very hard to keep your lawn green here and it costs a lot of money,” Chris Harlien, owner of Arizona Luxury Lawns told us. “Most homeowners will give into the climate and just let the grass die, but with the turf products continuously getting more realistic, neighbors see what’s happening next door and want it for themselves.”

Harlien is very familiar with the neighborhood – the street consists of six homes and Arizona Luxury Lawns has installed artificial grass in all of them. “40% of our business comes from referrals, so we work very hard to ensure we’ve exceeded our client’s expectations on every project. We have a strict open door policy with our clients and we have over 300 five star reviews across multiple platforms because of it.”

Arizona Luxury Lawns was founded in 2007 when they saw that turf as a great option for Arizona’s desert environment. They are a 100% family owned and operated business who dedicates all their energy to their customers. “We live and die by our reputation and we know it speaks for itself,” says Harlien. They proudly hold the title of 6 time Angie’s List Super Service Winner, A+ rating in the Better Business Bureau, and the Best of Scottsdale Award for the last 3 years.

Congratulations Laguna Turf

Though the California drought may be coming to an end, homeowners have not stopped wanting waterwise landscaping solutions. The promise of having a picturesque green lawn without the maintenance and expensive water bills has been more enticing than ever.

Our May 2017 “Install of the Month” winner, Laguna Turf, recently installed artificial grass for a Rossmoor resident, converting their front yard from natural grass to over 800 square feet of Synthetic Grass Warehouse’s Diamond Light Spring.

The homeowner’s natural lawn suffered significantly because of California’s mandated water restrictions. While searching for a drought-friendly solution, the homeowners specifically wanted something that would allow their pets to continue to play on. Artificial grass seemed to be the perfect solution for the homeowner, especially after learning that it was tough enough to withstand heavy traffic and was safe for kids and pets alike.

Laguna Turf, a southern California turf installer and landscape designer, has been the company to beat in this Rossmoor neighborhood. After bringing artificial grass to over 15 lawns around the area, an increasing number of homeowners see the realism of the turf and can’t seem to resist making the switch. “The neighbors see the turf in other yards on their street and are always amazed at how good it looks. A lot of our projects come from referrals because everyone wants it for themselves,” Enrique Tuccio, Laguna Turf owner, says.

“Every homeowner wants their house to look great from the street and since turf has become so realistic, everyone has the option to switch and enjoy the added benefits.” Tuccio says. “We give people a lawn replacement and landscape option that they can be proud of that will help them save time, money, and water!”

Congratulations Amazing Synthetic Greens

It’s pretty difficult for San Diego to be even more beautiful than it already is, with their great cityscape and sunny beaches. However, our April Install of the Month goes to Amazing Synthetic Greens & Lawns for their artificial grass installation at Bright Horizons preschool.

Using Diamond Pro Spring with TigerCool technology, they brought this San Diego preschool’s play area to life again. Diamond Pro Spring synthetic turf features a beautiful dual shade of field and lime green grass blades paired with a brown thatch layer to replicate the most natural of lawns.

Diamond Pro Spring turf is backed by the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association. IPEMA promotes safety and in-depth information on issues regarding playground equipment and surfacing issues. Through rigorous third party testing, Diamond Pro Spring is one of the seven TigerTurf products that meets the requirements of the American Society for Testing Materials F1292 certification.

These preschoolers can now play free of the allergies and pesticides that natural lawns can carry. It even allows for extra padding to protect the children from falls and the turf backing is perforated so liquids can easily pass through with no added mess to the lawn! Diamond Pro Spring was a great choice for the heavy foot traffic this playground is likely to endure and it will look great for years to come.

We look forward to seeing more great installations from Amazing Synthetic Greens & Lawns in the future!

Congratulations EcoLawn

While 83% of California has finally lifted their drought status, Santa Barbara is still clinging to conservation efforts. Residents have been turning to the passionate people at EcoLawn to make sure their grass stays green, even without the water. Chloe Kirk, co-owner of EcoLawn, says, “We are environmentalists at heart and want to save water in any way we can.”

Jessica Girard, co-founder of EcoLawn, is a passionate environmental and sustainable business advocate. Beau Schmidt, another EcoLawn co-founder, hopes to help homeowners with the rising cost of water bills with each installation of artificial grass.

EcoLawn recently installed 3,300 sq ft. of Diamond Pro Spring, as well as a 300 sq ft. putting green using Nylon Putt 2-tone on a Mediterranean estate in Santa Barbara. The homeowners recently moved from the East Coast, where they were used to having a green lawn without the high water bill. They replaced their browning, dead grass with synthetic grass, a growing trend among Santa Barbara residents. “We had to walk up and down ten flights of stairs to complete this job,” Kirk says. “But now the family can enjoy outdoor time spent with their kids while practicing their golf game.”

EcoLawn loves turf, but they weren’t always artificial grass landscapers. “We have been a general contractor in Santa Barbara for 17 years. Since 2014, when EcoLawn began, we’ve installed over 300 water-free grass lawns. We now do everything from design to installation, offering synthetic grass, hardscaping, and more.”

They have seen tremendous growth in the past year and their focus has been shifting from primarily residential work to more commercial and school applications. “We approach every job from a water conservation and environmental standpoint. We work hard to optimize water savings, reduce runoff, increase drainage as well as create an aesthetically beautiful project,” Kirk said.

Hillside Pavers

Hillside Pavers, based out of Orange County, realized that adding artificial grass added an entirely new dimension to their landscaping projects. Owner Oscar Valente knew that artificial grass was a perfect match for their masonry services. “It really sets us apart and from other landscapers in the area, especially in the eyes of the homeowner,” Valente said. “We offer a multitude of services and we found that it really helps with the customer experience from beginning to end.”

Valente recently installed 1,575 sq. ft. of TigerTurf Pet Turf, a product sold exclusively through Synthetic Grass Warehouse. “They originally hired us to install new pavers surrounding the pool area,” Valente said. “Once we were finished, the homeowners mentioned they did not like the way their existing turf looked against the new pavers.” The homeowners had artificial grass previously installed but were unhappy with the product. “The old turf didn’t have proper drainage so everything would trickle down into the pool,” he said. “We decided to re-level the entire area before installing new synthetic grass for them.”

He said this is a perfect example of who his clientele are. “They’re always letting me know how much of a convenience this is for them – and they’re more comfortable going through one company to meet all of their needs instead of having several come in and out of their homes.” Valente believes that one company allows for better communication. “We explain each step – they almost feel like they are part of the installation,” he said. “We listen to them, help come up with a solution, then stick to it – there are no surprises here.”

Valente has been in the business for over 15 years before founding Hillside Pavers in 2015. He said that all of his installers are ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) certified –  their employees have received training on the latest standards and best practices related to the installation of interlocking concrete pavements. “Not many can say that they are earning a living off of their passions, but I can,” he said. “We aren’t doing this just for profit, the relationships we establish with each homeowner is invaluable.”

Congratulations Sunshine Surfacing

One community in Pennsylvania came together to give their community park a facelift that has been years overdue. The residents of Bloomfield hosted bake sales, car washes and other forms of fundraising for three years to give Friendship Play Park a new play surface.

“The park originally had poured-in place rubber surfacing which had expanded and cracked over the years due to the weather in Pennsylvania,” said Steve Cianflone, owner of Sunshine Surfacing, a local artificial grass installation company. “Artificial grass is a great alternative because it looks great and stays in place no matter the weather, all 365 days a year.” Cianflone used Everlast Tacoma Light found exclusively through Synthetic Grass Warehouse (SGW) because of its durability and plush appearance. The 4200 sq. ft. artificial grass conversion with was installed over the span of four days with three different teams. “We had a glue team, an install team and a cut and seaming team,” Cianflone said. “There were 130 inserts that needed to be cut around on the 10-yr-old play structure.”

Sunshine Surfacing has been installing artificial turf for over 10 years, with nearly 85 percent of their business being playgrounds. Cianflone said that he has encountered parents that have voiced safety concerns when it comes to artificial grass installation. “I explain that it isn’t the turf – it’s the infill, in particular rubber infill that is made from used tires which contain petroleum,” he said. “We have never used that type of infill – it’s just common sense.” He says there are many infill alternatives including the silica sand they use. He also suggests that parents ask to see the lead free certificates before an artificial grass installation provided by companies like Synthetic Grass Warehouse and to find an experienced installer. “We’ve done over three thousand installs in Pennsylvania alone,” he said. “Our jobs come from word of mouth and we are very proud of that.” Visit sunshinesurfacing.com or like their page on Facebook for adddtional project information.

Congratulations Turf Supply USA!

Artificial grass became a very appealing replacement for those who want the perfect, manicured lawn without the guilt of wasting water. The low-maintenance, money saving product has drought residents praising the man-made lawn.

While many tend to relate artificial grass with the drought, Houston homeowners are telling a different story. “Houston is the opposite when it comes to artificial grass,” said Keith Derington, founder of Turf Supply USA. “We install turf because people are tired of their pets always tracking mud around.”

You see, Houston gets rain. Lot and lots of rain.

“You would think rain would be great for grass but too much rain actually kills it,” Derington said. “Some cities have a dry problem, we have a wet problem.” He estimates that about 90 percent of the installs he does are for pet owners.

Derington says his most recent install was a little different because of the size. Turf Supply USA recently installed 1,875 sq. ft of Everlast Tacoma for a Houston yard. “Our customer was just flat out tired of keeping up with the maintenance that came with a yard that size,” Derington said.

The homeowner had to get permission from her HOA before installation and they requested a product that would resemble St. Augustine natural grass. “The Tacoma was the clear winner when it came to the selection,” Derington said.

Derington says that business is booming and many of his recent installs have been word of mouth. He believes it’s because of the attention to detail Turf Supply USA gives to each install and the warranty on labor. “It’s little things that matter like using crushed granite or a nailer board as our standard on every install,” Derington said. “We want to be a step above everyone else. Our installs look great and last for years to come.”
